It offers numerous advantages: an additional professional perspective for therapists who are already working, a good basis for future therapists, an opportunity for additional training for training providers and an additional option of qualified services for insurers.
Possibility of registration from 2022
The new "Therapeutic Massage" method has a clearly therapeutic orientation. However, it does not compete in any way with the federal professional qualification of medical masseuse or medical masseuse. On the contrary: this new standard can be seen as a springboard because it offers less qualified therapists the opportunity to evolve and continue to develop.
At RME, the method of therapeutic massages will be open for registration from 2022. Training providers are currently preparing the first training and subsequent training for therapists with previous work experience.
Subsequent training as a transition solution
To obtain the RME quality mark for the new method, the therapists must provide 740 hours of training, including 340 hours of basic training (basic medicine, social sciences and general databases) and 400 hours of specialized education. In addition to conventional massage, specialized training includes reflexive foot massage and manual lymphatic drainage.
An alternative solution for the transition phase would also be to conduct a subsequent basic training. This is available for therapists who have been registered with RME for a massage method for at least two years. The details in this sense are established by a directive and by a form of the RME regulation.
