Professional Autobiography

Regis Blanco Álvarez
My name is Regis Blanco Álvarez, I am Cuban and 57 years old. I began my primary education in 1973 at the Jorge Dimitrov School, where I performed without difficulty and achieved good academic results. Later, I continued my secondary education at the Cándido González School, and in 1978 I entered the Pre-University at Campo “26 de Julio”, graduating in 1986.
During my school years, I excelled in various extracurricular activities such as Japanese martial arts, participating in national events, as well as music and dance competitions. This early experience marked the beginning of my interest in the human body and holistic well-being, which led me to attend courses in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
I studied at the military university, where I earned the rank of officer, but due to a vision condition, I was discharged and entered civilian life. I graduated as a chemical process technologist, working as a shift manager at an oil industry facility. Despite being in a technical environment, I never abandoned my martial arts practice or my studies in alternative therapies.
In 2005, I decided to change direction and began a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education at Camilo Cienfuegos University in Matanzas. At the same time, I worked as a sports facilitator in the tourist resort of Varadero, where I discovered my calling for therapeutic massage while serving clients at the gym. This experience motivated me to train in various massage techniques, achieving a deeper connection with people and their physical needs.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 2010, specializing in massage. I subsequently completed several diploma courses and training workshops in Havana. After a successful interview, I joined a hotel spa as a therapist, where I received training in body and facial treatments. In 2012, I became certified in levels I and II of the WATSU aquatic technique under the tutelage of a Dutch teacher.
With five years of experience in the spa industry, I received a proposal to teach massage classes at the Varadero School of Hospitality and Tourism, within the spa division. I continued my training in the capital, specializing in sports massage, Tuina massage, and Shiatsu.
In 2015, I was appointed Head of Spa at the Blue Diamond Resort hotel chain, a position I held for six years. Thanks to my performance, I was invited to Russia to exchange knowledge and participate in chiropractic workshops at specialized clinics. This experience deepened my interest in the discipline.
In 2023, I participated in the International Massage and Chiropractic Championship in Mexico, winning a silver medal in the “Mr. Massage” category. In 2024, I returned to the competition, winning a gold medal in the “Squa (4 hands)” category and a silver medal in Men’s Chiropractic. These achievements allowed me to enter the Thomson Institute of Mexico to study Chirophysiatry.
That same year, I was invited to be an international judge in Singapore by The Touch of Venus. Currently, I continue to teach courses at the Tourism Training School and privately at my home. In 2024, I also formed and presented a team of 16 therapists at the International Massage and Chiropractic Championship in Mexico, achieving the following results:

• 1 Gold Medal
• 1 Silver Medal
• 2 Bronze Medal

Actualmente me desempeño como terapeuta profesional en el Hotel 4 Palmas, de la cadena Blue Diamond Resort. Imparto cursos particulares en mi casa, donde también desarrollo actividades comunitarias, aplicando técnicas orientales y de quiropraxia para tratar diversas patologías.

Aunque por razones institucionales no he podido organizar eventos en mi país, me apasiona enseñar, compartir conocimientos y formar a nuevas generaciones de terapeutas. Me especializo también en terapias energéticas integradas a diferentes estilos de masaje.

Mis sueños profesionales incluyen:
– Trabajar como docente en una academia internacional de masaje 
– Brindar atención especializada a personas de la tercera edad 
– Integrarme a una clínica deportiva donde pueda enseñar e intervenir terapéuticamente 
– Desarrollar un proyecto comunitario que ofrezca formación gratuita en masaje y terapias complementarias

Creo firmemente que el conocimiento debe compartirse, y que el masaje es una herramienta poderosa para la sanación y el bienestar. Por ello, continuaré preparándome y formando talentos en esta hermosa profesión, con el objetivo de dignificarla y expandirla en Cuba y más allá.
